Franklin loves to solve riddles, and this game is one of his favorites! The great thing about it is that it can even be played by children who are just learning to spell. Have the birthday child look around the room and choose an object to spell. Then, without telling anyone the word, the birthday child works out its backwards spelling. Help them if necessary. Without showing the written word, say the backwards word out loud. Provide pencils and paper for players to help them figure out what the strange-sounding backwards word really is. If this is too difficult for your guests, make the game easier by saying the word (backwards), showing it written backwards for a few seconds, and then saying it again. Once a player guesses the object, he or she gets to choose the next object. So...give this activity a ‘yrt’ the next time you’re looking for an exciting new ‘emag’!
